Know When and How to Wash Your Hair

Maintaining your hair becomes easy with the right steps followed. The quality of your hair depends on the way how you treat them. And here the word ‘treat’ includes the manner in which you wash, dry, and style them. When it comes to choice of products and frequency of washing hair, you should first analyze them and accordingly use suitable products. You may wash your hair practically on a regular basis, but many girls actually don’t know the answer of “how often should I wash my hair”? The answer to this question depends on your lifestyle and hair condition. By using the right steps to wash hair, a huge difference could be made in their shine, strength, quality and bounce. But if you are making some common mistakes, then you will end up getting damaged strands without even realizing it.

There are few steps that guide you about how to wash hair in a right manner, which can make you love your hair again.

  1. Warm Shower- It is known that your hair should be made wet before adding shampoo to them. Lukewarm or hot water should be opted because it opens the cuticles. It is good for removing dirt which is trapped in the scalp.
  2. For long hair, condition first- For hair beneath shoulders, apply small amount of conditioner to the ends, to protect them from drying out, then lightly rinse before adding shampoo on them. This will not only make your ends healthy but also fill the cuticles with moisture, making them shine.
  3. Shampoo- Hair at the scalp is the youngest and oily while hair at the end is the dirtiest, oldest and fragile. The best way to lather them is from roots to end, add shampoo to the scalp and let it automatically reach the fragile ends, don’t put shampoo directly to your delicate ends.
  4. Handle with care- Friction can cause permanent damage to your hair. Wash them using vertical strokes, this increases blood flow and stimulates hair growth.
  5. Don’t repeat- Despite what your shampoo bottle instructs, don’t wash hair again, it strips the hair further.
  6. Condition from mid-length- Start putting conditioners from mid-lengths and then cover the ends, don’t put it to the scalp or roots. The longer you keep it one hair, the better it absorbs.
  7. Rinse with cold water at the end- Cold water has the tendency to shut the cuticles tight. It will reflect light and give your hair a perfect shine.
